Flat-price managed database
A database bill you can work out in your head.
Lathe charges one price per instance per month, set by the size of the machine, and that is the whole bill. Rows, queries, connections, compute hours, storage within the disk and traffic within the allowance are not metered. What the pricing page shows is what the card is charged, every month, until you delete the instance.
What one price covers.
- What the price includes
- The machine itself, its NVMe disk, 20 TB of traffic a month, daily backups kept 7 days, TLS on every port, PgBouncer, the SQL console, the API and the MCP server. All of it, on every plan.
- What is never metered
- Rows, queries, connections, CPU seconds, memory hours, backup storage and outbound traffic within the allowance. None of them appear on a bill because none of them are counted.
- How to work it out
- Plan price times months. A year on the $15 plan is 12 months at $15. There is nothing else to add.
- Growing, and shrinking
- Move up to a bigger plan at any time: the difference for the rest of the period is charged pro rata and the new price applies from the next renewal. Move down too: your instance moves to a smaller machine with its data and its address, so nothing you have written down changes, the unused part of the bigger plan comes back as credit on the next invoice, and the smaller price applies from then on. Delete the instance and billing stops that day.
- Over the traffic allowance
- If an instance passes 20 TB in a month we get in touch and talk about what you are running. We do not add a line to the bill.
- Before you pay
- Mini starts with a 14-day free trial and no card. Delete it before the trial ends and nothing is ever charged.

Questions
Are there any hidden costs?
None. The plan price is the whole price: the machine, storage, traffic within the allowance, backups, TLS, the console and the API. Setup, backups, public addresses and deletion are included.
What happens if I use more than the included traffic?
We contact you and talk. The allowance is 20 TB a month per instance, far more than a database normally moves; passing it is a conversation about what you are running, never an extra line on the bill.
Can the price change?
Price changes are announced by email ahead of time, as the terms say, and never apply to a month already paid.
Is the trial really free?
Yes. Mini starts with 14 free days and asks for no card. Keep it past the trial and the first month is charged then; delete it before and nothing is charged.
