Limits and policies
The operating limits that affect how you plan an instance.
- Backups
- Paid plans: one disk backup a day, seven kept (7). Recovery point objective: 24 hours. Free: no daily backups.
- Free
- $0, 1000 GB outbound per calendar month.
- Account
- One instance until the first successful monthly renewal; several afterward.
- Machine
- Each instance is one dedicated machine.
- Regions
- The available locations are listed on the create form, by
GET /locations, and bylist_plans. - Changing plan
- Up: the difference for the rest of the period is charged now. Down: your instance moves to a smaller machine, keeping its data and its address, and is down while the data is copied; the daily backups taken on the machine it leaves do not come with it. The unused part of the bigger plan comes back as credit on your next invoice, and the smaller price applies from then on. A move down is refused while the data, the engine memory floors or the apps would not fit the smaller plan.
Plan-specific hardware, prices, engine memory floors, and connection limits are returned by GET /plans and list_plans.
Plans and prices. Why the price is one number with nothing metered: a managed database with a flat price you can compute.
