Limits and policies

The operating limits that affect how you plan an instance.

Backups: One disk backup a day, seven kept. Recovery point objective: 24 hours.
Account: One instance until the first successful monthly renewal; several afterward.
Machine: Each instance is one dedicated machine.
Regions: The available locations are listed on the create form, by GET /locations, and by list_plans.
Resize: Plans move up only. Moving down requires a new instance and a data migration.

Plan-specific hardware, prices, engine memory floors, and connection limits are returned by GET /plans and list_plans.
